The month of March is recognized as women’s history month. The achievements of women are not just beneficial to women, but to all of us. The world we live in today would be unrecognizable, incomplete, and impossible without these achievements. During this time – and in all times – Bowman & Company LLP is proud to celebrate prominent women of the past & present.
Today, we are in the process of witnessing another fantastic achievement at our country’s highest levels of government. President Joe Biden has nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as the 116th Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court. Ketanji could not only be the sixth woman to serve on the court, but also the third African American to do so. Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Miami, she went on to graduate magna cum laude from Harvard University and subsequently entered Harvard Law School. She has served in many high-level federal positions of the legislative branch, including the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit as well as the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
As we all know, COVID-19 has been a disruptive force in the world of business, overwhelmed the health care industry, and has taken thousands of lives in its destructive path. That is why now more than ever, we celebrate the achievements of women in the field of science & research that are fighting an enormously difficult battle. Dr. Kizzmekia “Kizzy” Corbett leads a team of scientists at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases’ (NIAID) Vaccine Research Center; through her groundbreaking discoveries, Moderna mRNA vaccines were developed and distributed across the globe. The health – and quite possibly the lives – of millions will be preserved due to the achievements of Dr. Corbett and her team. Read more about her story here.
In our own field of accounting, Bowman celebrates the achievements of women everywhere. In an article by the American Institute of CPA’s & CPA Practice Advisor, 25 top female leaders in the profession are highlighted. Follow this link to the article on AICPA’s most recent recognized leaders.
In every facet of society, we benefit from the perseverance & success of women in ways both directly and indirectly. At Bowman, we have benefitted immensely from the work of our female employees. We appreciate the work of all women at Bowman and look forward to achieving an even more inclusive future for all.
